Handy guidelines to determine the right rug size for your horse or pony.

Depending on the brand, the rugs are indicated with a lower or upper size, and this in centimetres or inches. Here is some information to help you find the right horse rug size for your horse.

The top measurement (A) is measured from the withers to the tail implant, the bottom measurement (B) is measured from the chest to the back of the buttock.

The under size is measured from the chest (point C) to the back of the buttock (point D, so NOT all the way to the tail!).

Please note that the sizes mentioned in the table below are indicative sizes. The right size also depends on the build and the width of your horse.
In our shop, the most common blanket size is 195, which is about the standard size for the "average warmblood". For larger sporthorses, 205 is most common. Size 185 is usually suitable for the somewhat finer baroque types such as PRE, Lusitano,... For a narrow Arabian thoroughbred you choose 175, 165 being the smallest horse size. The sizes 147 - 157 are for the D-ponies, for the even smaller sizes it's really a matter of good measuring (or if you come to the shop, bring a well-fitting blanket). Bucas also has intermediate sizes, plus there are also ( minimal ) differences in size and fit depending on the brand.
Useful to know: Bucas blankets are also available as "Big Neck", which is an ideal fit for e.g. stallions or breeds with a slightly wider neck, such as Frisians...
